Artwork goes on sale for cancer support

ORGANISERS of an artwork sale in the Capital are hoping to raise tens of thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Edinburgh Macmillan Art Show, which is in its tenth year, will take place at Bonhams in Queen Street and will feature around 250 works of art, jewellery and textiles.

Jayne Forbes, Macmillan’s Edinburgh fundraising manager, said: “The Edinburgh Art Show has built up tremendous interest over the years and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported it so generously.

“This year we have some amazing works on offer, including jewellery and craft, and we hope that people will come along and dig deep for Macmillan.

“Without events like these Macmillan could not provide the wide range of vital services it does. The money that is raised from the show will allow us to continue providing much needed emotional, practical and financial support to people when they need it most.”

Among the artists whose work will be on sale are Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, Rosanne Barr, Damian Callan, Moy Mackay, Albie Sinclair and Evi Carmichael.

A painting by Pat Kramek worth £700 will also be up for grabs when it is raffled on the last day of the event, which runs from September 27 to 30.
