Arrest over 73-year-old's death at home

A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of an elderly woman at her home, police said last night.

Officers were called at around 1.30pm yesterday to reports of an incident at her home on the Isle of Bute. An ambulance was summoned to the property in Broadcroft Lane, Rothesay, but the 73-year-old woman died at the scene. She has not been named.

Strathclyde Police said a 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death and is being held in police custody.

He is expected to appear in court tomorrow.
