POLICE have made an arrest in relation to the recovery of thousands of pounds of clothing belonging to a high-profile designer leather company in the Scottish Borders.
The property, understood to belong to firm Aero Leather and included hundreds of jackets and pairs of jeans worth a total of £144,000, was uncovered in March this year.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “A 47-year-old man has been charged followed alleged thefts of leather jackets from a business in Galashiels.”
He is scheduled to appear at Selkirk Sheriff Court on 6 January next year.
The Galashiels-based company specialises in bespoke, hand-made vintage jackets, which are much sought-after around the world, with celebrities such as Bond star Daniel Craig, musician Dave Grohl and actor Johnny Depp among their customers.
Their jackets have also appeared in numerous films, including Empire of Sun, Captain America and Inception.
Most recently, the company was asked to produce a period bomber jacket for Hollywood A-lister George Clooney to wear in the World War II film The Monuments Men, set to be released next year.
