Armed gang terrify worshippers during raid on Glasgow Sikh temple

POLICE were today hunting an armed gang who burst into a Sikh temple and left worshippers terrified.

Three men, carrying what police believe to be a firearm, struck at the temple on St Andrews Drive in Pollokshields, Glasgow.

A four-figure sum was taken during the raid, which took place yesterday morning as the temple was being prepared for the day's services.

Although the weapon was not fired during the incident, worshippers preparing for a service were left shaken.

Strathclyde Police are investigating, with Detective Sergeant Jim Leckie appealing for information.

He said: "Worshippers were preparing the temple for the day's services at the time of the incident and were left shaken by events."

Police described two of the men involved as being black, about 6ft tall, and in their mid-20s. One was wearing dark clothing while one had on a black and white bandana. The third suspect is an Asian male, said to be in his early 20s, about 5ft 3ins to 5ft 5ins and wearing a grey-hooded top with a skull and crossbones design on the back.

After taking the cash, the men made off towards Shields Road and Maxwell Drive.
