Arlene Fraser trial: Co-accused turned tide

WHEN Hector Dick swapped the dock for the witness box in 2003 it was arguably one of the most dramatic moments witnessed in a Scottish court room in recent years.

The farmer, of Mosstowie, Elgin, went on trial alongside Nat Fraser, but was freed from the dock six days into the case after giving a seven-hour statement to police.

His transformation from accused to accuser played a role in securing the conviction of his best man for murder.

At the retrial Mr Dick, 56, described how Fraser admitted to paying a hitman £15,000 to kill his wife and said Fraser told him Arlene’s body had been burnt and her teeth ground up.
