Apple reveals flagship Glasgow store ahead of reopening

TECH giant Apple has revealed its new look flagship Scottish store ahead of its reopening on Saturday.

The Californian multinational has spent nine months refurbishing the premises at Buchanan Street in Glasgow city centre.

Customers will be able to test products and chat with experts in an enlarged demonstration area, while a first floor ‘boardroom’ will allow entrepreneurs to meet staff to discuss their business requirements in stylish surroundings.

The Buchanan Street store is among the first in the UK to undergo a refurbishment plan which will eventually be rolled out across the company’s 485 locations worldwide.

It was the first in Scotland when it opened in 2007 and served nine million customers before temporarily closing in January.

It will welcome back customers from 9am on Saturday.

Store leader Audrey Duff said that along with free daily workshops for customers, there would be increased activites aimed at children to help them learn skills such as basic coding and video editing.

The landmark Buchanan Street store was originally built in the 1840s as a private members’ club, the Western.
