Appeal for witnesses after woman attacked on way home from bar

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a woman was attacked on her way home from a bar.

Police have released CCTV images of a man who officers want to trace in connection with the suspicious incident.

The incident happened in the early hours of Monday May 28, close to the Premier Inn hotel on Morrison Circus.

A 21-year-old woman had left the Chanter bar in Bread Street around 1am and was close to the Premier Inn hotel when she was attacked by a man.

A struggle took place, and the woman managed to break free.

Detectives have been carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident, and have now taken the step of releasing CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

He is described as white, 25-30-years-old, 5ft 7ins tall with shoulder-length dirty blond hair. He was wearing a light coloured bomber style jacket and dark trousers.

A police spokesman said: “Although she was not injured, the victim was left extremely distressed and we are keen to hear from any members of the public who can assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images, or who has any other information that can assist us in identifying him, should contact police immediately.”
