Appeal over train attack

POLICE are appealing for rail passengers who witnessed a violent attack on a man travelling on the Glasgow to Edinburgh service to come forward.

The 20-year-old victim, from Linlithgow, had boarded the 11.30pm Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley service.

As the train approached Falkirk High station, police said he appeared to exchanged words with a group of five men.

The men attacked him on the train and then dragged him on to the station platform, where he was assaulted again. He suffered injuries to his face and neck, and was taken by ambulance to Stirling Royal Infirmary, but was released following treatment.
