Appeal over derby flares

Police are appealing for witnesses after flares were set off at a football match last week.

During the match at Easter Road between Hibs and Hearts on Monday, January 2, two smoke canisters were discharged in the upper stand of the away end.

The incidents happened immediately after the first and second Hearts goals.

A police spokesman said: “This mindless act of stupidity could have put the rest of the crowd at significant risk.”
