App firm Allthings in funding boost

A DUNDEE firm which has secured customers from as far afield as the US and Japan for its software is aiming to double its headcount this year following a £400,000 cash injection.

Allthings, founded last year, created an application that helps users keep track of projects and tasks over the internet, without the need for long e-mail chains.

Director David Hay said: “We wanted to tackle the problem of fighting your way through your inbox and being copied in on e-mails you’d rather not be. It’s shareable list of tasks or documents, and it works across mobile devices and desktop PCs.”

The firm, which has five staff, raised £200,000 from private investors and secured matched funding from the Scottish Investment Bank. The cash will be spent “cautiously”, Hay said, with a focus on ramping up its sales and marketing activities.

Hay added that Allthings hopes to create up to 15 jobs by 2016, when the company is forecast to be in profit.

Simon Burton, tax director at accountant Johnston Carmichael, which advised the firm on its fundraising, said: “The company is another excellent example of an innovative Scottish technology start-up which has created a product with real global appeal.”
