Ann Widdecombe: what the critics said

Ann Widdecombe's harshest criticism came from judge Bruno Tonioli, who remarked after her routine on Saturday night: "It was more like 'Hello trolley' than 'Hello Dolly'. Anton was pushing you around like an overloaded trolley.

"When you were on your own, you looked like a Dalek in drag."

Her previous attempts have also attracted criticism with head judge Len Goodman telling Widdecombe and Du Beke that their routines were "like haemorrhoids - they keep coming back more painful than ever".

Another judge, Craig Revel Horwood, was no less critical. He said: "Watching Anton carry Ann round the dance floor like a pantomime dame has been rather painful, but nevertheless extremely entertaining."

The former politician had no illusions about her performance and recently said of her own dancing ability: "I'm like a pantomime act - four steps behind everyone else."
