Analysis: Is it Michelle or Kate? Actually, the Queen wins in the fashion stakes

BOTH Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge have dressed to suit their ages. However, I'm not sure the colours on Mrs Obama's outfit complement each other.

Kate's works very well; the colour really suits her tan. It's not dull, and it works with her skin tone at the moment.

The dress also gives her more shape, as it's curving her in all the right places. She's a lot slimmer than she was before the wedding, so this dress gives her those curves back.

I like the colour Kate's chosen but I don't think the pink goes well with the blue on Mrs Obama's outfit. And the jacket does flare out a little at the back - perhaps it's supposed to fasten at the front. If she'd just lost the jacket I think it would work better.

The duchess is definitely the winner here. Mrs Obama usually dresses well, but Kate has a good stylist.

The first lady normally does choose bright things, but I'm not sure these colours really work together; perhaps she was trying to work in with her husband's tie.

I like the floral dress the Queen's wearing - it looks very vintage; I'd wear that and I like the bag. I think that's great, she always is. She's outshone them both.

I'd say, of the three, actually the Queen is the most on-trend.

The other two have gone for strong silhouettes, and they are dressing for their age and to flatter their figures, but what the Queen has chosen is spot-on for this season.
