• Gary Ridgway: The Green River Killer, right. Convicted of killing 48 women in Washington state, 1982-2000. Real total probably 90-plus. Given life without parole.

• Donald Gaskins: The Pee Wee Killer. South Carolina native who tortured children. Nine confirmed murders, at least 80 suspected. Executed.

• David Parker Ray: The Toy Box Killer. Nicknamed after torture chamber at his New Mexico home, Suspected to have killed 60 women, 1950-1999. Died in jail.

• Rodney Alcala: The Dating Game Killer. Smiling murderer who appeared on US version of Blind Date TV show during span of California killings from 1968-1999. Victims number anywhere from 7 to 100. On Death Row.

• Richard Kuklinski: The Iceman, left. Mafia hitman who put reputed 50 victims in industrial freezer. Given life for five murders in 1998. Died suspiciously in New Jersey prison.
