• Paul Dalgleish is a die-hard Hibby, braving a seven-and-a-half hour flight from Dubai to cheer on his side.

He said: “Even in Dubai, I can feel the excitement of what is going to be a historic day. I want to be there when we lift the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1902 – all the sheikhs of the Middle East are behind Hibs!”

• Trevor Bryan left Edinburgh in 1991 to work in Manchester but kept up his season book at Tynecastle. He’s been living in Chicago since 2003 and is travelling more than 1800 miles to watch the match. “Some say it’s just a game but it’s been a staple in many an Edinburgh lad’s life since birth and has provided me with the worst lows and the very greatest highs in my life,” he said.

• Steven Tully has been an adopted Australian for several years but still harks back to Easter Road. The Melbournite, originally from Edinburgh, is making the 32-hour flight to be with his father at Hampden.

He said: “Hampden’s a long way from Melbourne but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. The chance to see Hibs lift the cup was something I was never going to miss. I’ve taken a week’s unpaid leave and I’ll be sitting in the stand with my dad. Hopefully come Saturday night I’ll be celebrating with my Hibbie mates and reminiscing about putting our Scottish Cup hoodoo to bed.”
