Alex’s £60k is a wheely good effort

A BOSS at a top UK tax and audit firm swapped the office for the open road as he took on an epic cycling challenge from Athens to London.

Alex Sanderson, KPMG’s head of audit for Scotland who lives in Edinburgh, helped raise nearly £60,000 for children’s charity Barnardo’s through the gruelling expedition that he completed with several staff.

The cyclists covered a 2600km route following the journey made by the Olympic flame from its spiritual home in Greece to the 2012 host city.

It took two weeks for the team to complete the distance, travelling through Italy and France before crossing the finishing line outside KPMG’s head office in Canary Wharf.

Mr Sanderson said: “This was undoubtedly a challenge but throughout the two weeks we were motivated to keep going and raise a fantastic sum for Barnardo’s, whose work with young people is
invaluable.”
