Alex Salmond hosts trilateral talks

ALEX Salmond will today host Welsh and Northern Irish leaders in the first trilateral talks since the three devolved administrations faced elections.

He will be joined at Bute House by his Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, their Northern Ireland counterparts Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness, and Welsh leader Carwyn Jones.

Mr Salmond achieved the first majority government in Scotland, since devolution, a feat Mr Jones's Welsh Labour party, missed out on by a single seat.

Mr Robinson's Democratic Unionist Party and Mr McGuinness's Sinn Fein remain the largest parties in Northern Ireland.
