Alex behind races jackpot

ALEX Salmond has proved he knows his stuff about horses – by helping his aides to a £1600 win at the races.

The First Minister provided the group with his tips for the meet at Musselburgh when they set off for a stag do.

Special advisers Geoff Aberdein, Stuart Nicolson and Kevin Pringle and 12 others all chipped in the minimum £2 Tote Placepot bet — and then watched as all of them enjoyed placed finishes.

Mr Salmond — who was also invited but was too busy to attend — landed his own £160 share of the jackpot, but has passed it on to charity.
