Albion builds sanctuary

A NEW conference centre aimed at the voluntary sector has been opened within two former city churches.

The 500,000 premises at Leith's Norton Park, where the offices of 25 charities are based, will give third sector organisations access to a 100-seat conference suite, electronic whiteboards and a board room, among others.

The Albion Trust, which has established the centre contained within the former St Mungo's and Lockhart Churches on Albion Road, says it is targeting voluntary groups and offers rates to match their tight budgets.

Among the trust's first clients is the Scottish Conservative Party, which next week will stage a conference on the enhanced role of the third sector in days of contracting public spending.
