Airport evacuated by fire

A CAR park at Edinburgh Airport had to be evacuated yesterday after a vehicle burst into flames.

Travellers were shepherded from the ground floor of the multi-storey car park at 4.50pm after a blaze was sparked inside a silver Vauxhall Insignia. Fire crews from Sighthill raced to the scene. However, the incident was dealt with by the airport’s own fire service.

No injuries were reported and the car park reopened within the hour.
