Aids centre in closure threat

AN AIDS centre opened by Princess Diana is facing closure due to funding cuts.

Milestone House in Edinburgh was among the first in the UK to offer specialised care to people with HIV and Aids.

But the centre, currently housing 14 residents and helping a further 200 people, could be forced to close after the council threatened to withdraw funding.

The council has told Waverley Care, which runs the facility, that it may have to find "alternative funding" and suggested patients could be treated at home.
