Acid victim wants £1.7m payout

AN IRANIAN woman blinded and disfigured by a spurned suitor in an acid attack will spare him a court-ruled "eye-for-an eye" punishment if she is paid €2 million (£1.7m). But she still wants him jailed for life.

Ameneh Bahrami, 32, has said the money will help rebuild her life, shattered when Majid Movahedi hurled a bucket of sulfuric acid in her face seven years ago. She has since had nearly 20 unsuccessful operations to reconstruct her face and restore her sight.
