Aberdeen culture team in the money

Aberdeen is to make a bid for UK City of Culture in 2017.

The move comes three years after councillors, facing widespread cuts, withdrew a bid to become City of Culture in 2013.

But Aberdeen City Council has now agreed to spend more than £500,000 on a campaign to win the 2017 title. Most of the cash will go towards employing a bid team.
