Abbatoir worker ‘killed by cow carcass’

A MAN has died after an accident in an abattoir in Paisley.

The 23-year-old died in hospital from serious head injuries following the incident at Sandyford Abattoir yesterday.

It is believed the man was hit by the carcass of a cow.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the circumstances around the death.

The man was taken to the town’s Royal Alexandra Hospital at around midday, where he died a short time later.

Strathclyde Police say a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
