9am briefing: Theatre's Trust chief exec to stand down

THE Chief executive of Festival City Theatres Trust John Stalker is to stand down from his post, along with head of sales and marketing Darrell Williams.

The resignations come after months of financial turmoil for the Trust, which runs the King's and Festival theatres.

Edinburgh Airport flights praised for punctuality

Flights at Edinburgh airport were more punctual in the first three months of this year than at any time since 1998.

Figures show 85 per cent of flights were within 15 minutes of their scheduled times.

Cairn founder moves to non-exec role

SIR Bill Gammell, founder of Edinburgh-based oil firm Cairn Energy, is to become non-executive chairman of the group in a boardroom reshuffle.

Legal and commercial director Simon Thomson will succeed him.

Proposed Borders rail route hit by bidder blow

It is reported that one of the two bidders to build the Borders rail link may be about to pull out of the project. Construction giant Carillion has already withdrawn from the IMCD consortium, and it is thought the rest of the consortium may now withdraw its bid. But First Minister Alex Salmond insisted the rail link from Edinburgh to Galashiels would go ahead.

German X Factor comes to Lothians

The German version of the X Factor is to use Lennoxlove House in Haddington, East Lothian as a base for its over-25s competitors. The German jazz star Till Bronner, who is a judge on the series, is reported to be flying into the country on Tuesday for a four-day at the house, home to the 16th Duke of Hamilton.
