50 jobs axed at Aegon HQ

ANOTHER 50 finance jobs in the Capital are expected to be lost later this week in the latest round of cuts at life and pensions giant Aegon.

The Dutch firm, which has its UK headquarters at Edinburgh Park, is expected to axe 50 posts in finance and employee benefits as part of cuts that will see 600 posts go at the office.

The company has already announced that it wants its British operations scaled back by 25 per cent, which equates to a saving of 80 million a year.

Adrian Grace, the firm's chief operating officer, said: "Our restructuring programme is going to plan and, given that the project began in June, we've made significant progress."
