26 residents evacuated after fire breaks out at Dundee chip shop

MORE than 20 residents of neighbouring properties were led to safety in the early hours of yesterday morning following a fire at a chip shop in Dundee.

The 26 residents were evacuated by firefighters from Tayside Fire and Rescue Service tackling a major fire at the Victor Fish Bar in the city’s Blackness Road.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said the emergency services had been alerted at 2.15am after an alarm activated at the shop.

He continued: “On arrival, officers found a fire ablaze within the premises. A cordon was quickly established to preserve the integrity of the scene and to ensure public safety was maintained. Some local residents were required to be evacuated.”
