£500,000 pay-off for Amnesty chief

One of Britain's most high-profile anti-poverty campaigners pocketed more than half a million pounds as part of a secretive deal when she resigned, figures have revealed.

Irene Khan walked out of her job as Amnesty International's secretary-general with 533,103 in December 2009 - more than four times the 132,490 she picked up in 2009.
