Those arrested are to be reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with 70 alleged crimes.

The enquiry found that some of the stolen property has been sold locally, and police are requesting information from the public in an effort to trace and return the items to their rightful owners.

Community Inspector Ian Mackay said:

"Police strongly advise the public to make sure their property is secured and always ensure that all property and valuables are kept in a safe place that is not obvious to thieves."
