100s of police have record

HUNDREDS of police officers are working for Scottish forces despite having convictions for crimes, including assault, theft, drug possession and drink-driving.

It has been reported that at least 333 police men and women currently employed by the police service in Scotland have an outstanding conviction.

In Lothian and Borders a total of 111 serving officers hold criminal convictions – about 4 per cent of the force – including one senior officer found guilty of drug offences.
