FOUR days ago it was cruising in the Firth of Forth, thousands of miles from home and blissfully unaware its great adventure was about to come to an abrupt end.
Now, a 9ft-long swordfish is to grace 300 Edinburgh dinner plates in the form of tasty steaks.
The creature was caught by fisherman Brian Hynd who had decided to try his luck with lobster pots near Alloa on Sunday, and it was quickly snapped up by Eddie's Seafood Market in Roseneath Street, Marchmont.
Swordfish are usually found swimming in the tropical Atlantic, and this one is thought to have travelled right around the north of Scotland to reach the Forth.
It is the first time staff at Eddie's have ever seen a locally-caught swordfish.
