Northern Bottlenose Whales: Video shows pod of whales off the coast of Arran
The video was taken on the Isle of Arran.
This beautiful video shows a pod of Northern Bottlenose Whales swimming off the coast of Arran in the Firth of Clyde.
The video was taken by Kate Russell who works at the Douglas Hotel on the east coast of Arran.
The hotel posted it on their Facebook page with the caption: “What a beautiful sight for our guests to see this morning.”
The pod had swam down from Greenock, where the coastguard rescue team were deployed after large crowds gathered along the quayside to see the animals, who it appeared were trapped within the harbour.
The Greenock Coastguard Rescue Team said: “Coastguard Officers remained on scene during the evening and early hours alongside partner colleagues from British Divers Marine Life Rescue and Police Scotland for public safety.
“We can confirm that the pod of Northern Bottlenose Whales have now left the harbour and we are monitoring their location along with BDMLR.”
