These new hotels opened their doors within the last year.

From city boltholes to country retreats (and a well known name heading to the capital), these are some of Scotland’s newest hotels.

The Citi hotel opened last year in what was The Royal Hotel, which closed in 2016 after 137 years. A 500,000 refurbishment has turned it into a no-frills style business abode.

This historic hotel has been welcoming guests since the 1750s. After an extensive rebuild and upgrade the hotel re-opened in February last year. As well as new rooms there is a bar and restaurant too.
