Lady Provost
lends a hand

Customers at a branch of Shelter Scotland were served by a special guest when the Lord Provost’s wife dropped in to offer a helping hand.

Lady Provost Elaine Brand sorted donations, stacked shelves and stepped behind the till at the charity’s shop in Morningside.

She said: “I was only too happy to help out in aid of such a worthwhile cause. The shop was a hive of activity and the staff and volunteers were a pleasure to work with.

“I have committed myself to raising awareness of homelessness in Edinburgh during my time as Lady Provost and will do all that I can to assist the wonderful work done by Shelter Scotland and other homeless charities across the city.”

Recent figures from the charity suggest more than 4000 families are homeless in the Capital.
