Maybe you are dreaming of a stretch of perfect Caribbean sand, but even if long haul flights are looking unlikely there are plenty of paradise beaches on our doorstep.

In fact, you might not even be able to tell the difference between the sort of shorelines you would find in Barbados and Benbecula (although the weather may not be quite as reliable in Scotland).
