For those keen to bring the outdoors in as winter fast approaches, Moss & Fern is the new plant shop on hand to help those based in Edinburgh – with a dazzling array of leafy green specimens, adorable small succulents and dried flowers available to brighten up your home. Tucked away on South Clerk Street in Edinburgh’s southside, Moss & Fern offers a houseplant paradise for anyone looking to purchase any house plants, pots or even dried flower wreaths.
Moss & Fern owner Kirsty Harbison said "I'm so excited to be finally opening a shop of my own, and joining a fantastic collective of independent shops in Edinburgh”.
In stressing the various mental health benefits of looking after plants at home, especially in lockdown, Kirsty added “At this time more than ever people are making their homes into little oasis' as they are spending more time there. Plants are a fantastic way to accomplish this. They are also phenomenal for mental health and wellbeing, of which I can vouch for. Nurturing a plant and seeing it grow is a great way to look after yourself, and I hope my customers will see the benefits.”
At Moss & Fern, Kirsty hopes to soon be able to offer delivery as well as a DIY terrarium station in-store – giving you the chance to create your own miniature garden using glasses and bottles sourced from bars around Edinburgh. For those looking to get stuck in with any floral crafts and creations, Kirsty will also be hosting wreath-making workshops at the Secret Herb Garden to teach you how to construct an autumnal wreath for your home.
Wanting to make her shop as accessible as possible to all, Kirsty adds “I have a large range of indoor plants available, and something for all budgets. I'm really looking forward to helping people find their perfect plant baby!”
With an exciting range of flowers and plants in store ready to be taken home in recyclable packaging, Moss & Fern will no doubt be a hit with houseplant-hungry locals in Edinburgh and is open now at 84 South Clerk Street in Newington, Edinburgh EH8 9PT.
