Smith was nominated for the two categories he won last year: arts/entertainment journalist and sports feature writer.

Other SoS nominations were: Tom English for sports feature writer; Brian Adcock for cartoonist of the year; and Ian Rutherford for sports photographer of the year.
The winners – along with the recipient of journalist of the year, newspaper of the year and the lifetime achievement award – will be announced at a gala dinner at the Radisson Blu in Glasgow on 18 April, hosted by comedian and commentator Tam Cowan.
