Ambassador, with these tatties you're really spoiling us

EAST Lothian farmer Allan Stevenson is rolling his sleeves up and getting down and dirty as Scotland's new "potato ambassador".

Stevenson – already chairman of the Potato Council – is one of ten "passionate potato growers" who are charged with increasing potato sales and consumption across the UK's nations and English regions.

The ambassadors will be involved in all aspects of Potato Council marketing activity: attending shows, engaging with consumers directly online or at shopping centres and hosting farm visits. They will also play an integral role in the Potato Council's schools project, "Grow Your Own Potatoes", educating youngsters about how potatoes grow.

The ambassadors' work will compliment that of the council's "Potato Girls", a marketing team which issues recipe ideas via Facebook and Twitter.
