Lynne O’Rourke: Time to think about Autumn

IS IT just me or are things getting chillier of an evening? We’ve had such a great summer, I don’t want to accept it might be over, but looking on the bright side it is time to think about cosying up homes for the new season.

I may be a summer girl, but I also love autumn as the nights start to creep in, fires and stoves crackle back to life, and curling up under a cosy throw with a good book or settling down in front of the TV has less guilt factor attached.

The coming weeks are all about comfort and texture, so it’s a good excuse for new cushions and throws to warm things up. Add a floor lamp, extra table lamp or both to your living space – layers of light add to that feeling of warmth. And dig out your candle holders, as nothing visually warms a room more than flickering candlelight.

All I need now is to whittle down my cushion wish list, to find out series three of Borgen is going to start and autumn could officially begin.
