New homes taking shape in Edgehead, Midlothian

The first phase of luxury house builder, Richmond Homes’ new development in Edgehead, Midlothian has already attracted a flurry of interest from buyers - which is about to intensify. Work on Chesterhill Wood, the company’s latest luxury development of 19 new homes close to the conservation village commenced in November. But already there is only one remaining plot available in the first phase of the project while the show home launch is this weekend.

Managing Director, Calum Stewart, said: “We’re delighted that there has been so much interest with three of the house plots reserved within weeks of launching. The specification is very high and this combined with a superb location and great starting prices, seems to be an attractive option for buyers.”

The Chesterhill Wood development is situated in a rural location by the small village of Edgehead, surrounded by woodland and farmland, with excellent amenities at the nearby market town of Dalkeith, and only minutes drive from the Edinburgh City bypass.

Only one plot, The Larch, remains available in the first phase of the development. This five-bedroom property situated on a spacious corner site features a detached double garage, designer Fusion kitchen and appliances, and top of the range bathroom sanitary ware by Porcelanosa. The second phase of the development with another fourteen four and five bedroom house plots is currently in progress with plots 6 - 9 having just been released, with the company offering a choice of house types to potential buyers, named after indigenous trees such as the oak and birch that can be found in the surrounding woodland.

Stewart says: “During the last few years we’ve developed our specialist bespoke service, with a number of award-winning individual properties to our name. Now with positive property forecasts, we’re working again on a larger development, with the same high standard of build and design and tailored service as our bespoke homes.”

The show home is the company’s Birch house type and will be opened tomorrow, 29th May. It is a four to five bedroom home with open plan kitchen and family room, a lounge and study or bedroom five with en-suite shower - ideal for a downstairs guest suite.

There are a further four bedrooms on the first floor with fitted wardrobes and the master bedroom has a walk in wardrobe and luxury en-suite. Completing the upstairs is a large landing with study area and a main bathroom.

The finish of the homes is a complimentary mix of the traditional and the contemporary. The staircase has an oak handrail and painted balustrade, whilst the kitchen furniture is a Contemporary Fusion kitchen by Ashley Ann. The exterior of the homes are a mix of facing stone, traditional render, slate roofs and timber windows, giving the homes a high quality look and feel, designed to compliment the landscape they are set in.

Each home comes with a high efficiency condensing gas boiler and well insulated. The windows are timber frames with Low ‘E’ double glazing which allows heat in but retains it more than standard glass.

Prices start at £340,000.
