Lodge homes offer new opportunities for living

The Mains of Taymouth resort at Kenmore, Perthshire is famed for its high quality holiday accommodation and second homes, but the estate has just launched a product aimed also at residential buyers.

Lodge homes will be built by Blairish with quality materials and in a contemporary design to blend with the surroundings.Called Balloch Park, the development will be situated to the east of the existing Mains of Taymouth resort. The spectacular south facing setting has the River Tay on one side and Drummond Hill on the other.Along with presenting an idyllic and proven location for a holiday or permanent home, Balloch Park is only six miles from the charming market town of Aberfeldy, and an hour and a half from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee. The homes are aimed at downsizers and the retired, but also offer opportunities to first-time buyers already based in the area who may be struggling to get on to the housing ladder.A choice of 38 bespoke two and three-bedroomed lodges are available, of which 16 are in phase one.Included in every solid timber lodge is an ensuite bathroom, dressing room, custom-fitted luxury kitchen with built-in appliances, utility room, log burning stove, and an open plan, light-filled, living space.

All are built from scratch to order, so they can be personalised to the buyers’ requirements, working in consultation with Blairish. The lodges have full central heating and exceptional insulation and double glazing to keep maintenance and running costs low.Mains of Taymouth managing director Robin Menzies described the launch as: “The realisation of a long-held plan to be able to offer residential living on the estate.“The location could not be better, with the lodges situated on spacious plots in the most idyllic and peaceful riverside spot, which is a nature lover’s paradise.“They offer privacy and seclusion, yet it’s still only a short distance away from the main resort, with its facilities including a nine-hole golf course, on-site restaurant, shop and equestrian centre.”

Prices for homes on the 160 acre site start at £160,000. Contact Balloch Park for more information.
