Airbnb reveals top 10 most wish listed properties in Scotland

Airbnb has revealed a list of the top ten most Wish Listed properties in Scotland by global users.

The announcement follows a recent report which showed record-breaking guest arrivals of close to 6 million in the UK since July 2016 - an increase of over 80 per cent.

A spokesperson for Airbnb said: "From historic castles to stylish city apartments, it’s evident that global travellers are lusting after the diverse properties available in Scotland on Airbnb."

According to the accommodation website, typical Scottish host earns around £3,600 per year, hosting for 38 nights.

The UK has continued to thrive as a destination on Airbnb, generating an estimated £3.46 billion for local residents since July 2016 – with guests spending over £1 million per day in Scotland alone.

The 10 most wish listed properties on Airbnb in Scotland are as follows:

1. Classical Apartment on the Royal Mile - Edinburgh

Described by Airbnb as a "romantic apartment in the heart of the Old Town of Edinburgh", that is the "perfect base from which to explore the city".

2. The Gatehouse to Ayton Castle - Eyemouth

Hailed as a unique place to stay by those who had stayed there, the Gatehouse is situated less than four miles from the dramatic south east coastline and is described as combining the "comfort of a cosy cottage" with the "beauty of a castle".

3. Dairsie Castle - Fife

The first castle on the list comes in the form of Dairsie Castle in Fife, which was highly rated by the Airbnb reviewers and described by one user as "a great spot for large families to come together and feel like royalty for the duration of their stay".

4. Bothy by the Sea - Waternish

One of the more distinctive properties on the list, the Bothy by the Sea is is an old stone building lying on the bay at Camuslusta, perfect for getting back to nature it's hugely popular with all who stay there.

This quaint little two bedroom Victorian flat lies close to The Shore and Newhaven Harbour and is just a 10-15 min drive to the city centre. It's described as one guest as a "great place for exploring the city".

With stunning views of Edinburgh Castle, this apartment is tucked away in the historic Grassmarket area and is described as the perfect central location for enjoying everything the capital has to offer.

7. Luxury mews - Edinburgh

This converted stable/garage property offers modern accomodation in the heart of the city, with a generous double bedroom and ensuite shower room.

One user, who left a five star review wrote: "The Mews house is in a secluded street, close to the centre of Edinburgh. We couldn't of wished for anything better."

8. Bright, stylish room - Edinburgh

Situated just a 10 minutes walk from the Royal Mile and 20 minutes from Princes Street, this room has proved popular with Airbnb users with 390 positive reviews.

The fifth Edinburgh property on the list, is another with stunning views of the castle and is described as a "stylish self-catering, first floor, one-bedroom apartment perfect for vacation or business stays in the magnificent city of Edinburgh".

10. Ochils Edge Glamping - Forgandenny
