Fit for a king (or a bonnie prince)

Ever hankered after a night in a bona fide castle? How about three castles?

First, the breathtaking Inverlochy Castle – a country house hotel overlooking a loch, that’s played host to such luminaries as Charlie Chaplin, Sean Connery and the King of Jordan. After a night of blissful slumber, you’ll be taken on a private tour of the Glenfinnan Monument, to spy where Bonnie Prince Charlie started his campaign in 1745.

There are subtle signs of David’s allegiance to the Jacobite cause throughout the stunning house – white roses, symbolising the cause, or an image of Poseidon on his sea chariot, which is argued to represent Bonnie Prince Charlie’s arrival from over the sea. It’s up to you and your companion to decipher the clues in the ornate surroundings.
