Whisky: Macallan team up with photographer Erwitt

WORLD-renowned photographer Elliott Erwitt has teamed up with The Macallan for a range of unique pairings of whiskies and prints of Scottish scenes.

Erwitt, dubbed one of the most influential living photographers, has crafted a series of photographs entitled ‘The Great Scottish Adventure’, capturing a variety of scenes from across the country.

Each of these scenes have been placed alongside one of 58 unique single cask whiskies, with Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno personally pairing the images with whiskies. Just 35 of each pair will go on sale.

The finished product - entitled ‘The Masters of Photography: Elliott Erwitt Edition’ - comes in a photo album with a handmade glass flask contained within its pages.

Erwitt, who has photographed Marilyn Monroe and Jackie Kennedy among others during his career, said: “Photography is an art of observation – it’s about creating something extraordinary out of the ordinary. You choose a frame and then wait until the right time for something magical to come along and fill it.

“I realised while working on this project that this is exactly the way Bob, the Whisky Maker, works when creating The Macallan. He envisages how he wants a particular whisky to taste, selects the perfect cask to create it, and then he waits! Timing is everything.”
