Tweet a picture of your favourite dram and win

We are asking our readers to Tweet a photo of their favourite dram with extra points given for pictures with added creativity.

It can be anything the best captures the essence your favourite whisky be it in your front room, at the distillery where it was made or wherever you enjoy drinnking our national spirit.

The best picture, selected by The Scotsman’s picture editor, will win a CalMac ticket for two adults and a car on any return route.

Whisky and the west coast of Scotland have been closely associated for hundreds of years and the tradition continues today with thriving distilleries in stunning locations. With May officially ‘whisky month’ in Scotland this year, now is a great time to sail with CalMac and visit one of the many world renowned distilleries along Scotland’s whisky coast with destinations ranging from Campbeltown in Kintyre to nearby Islay and Jura as well as Arran, Mull, Skye and Lewis.

Great Days Out

For a great Day Out book a morning or afternoon tour at Ardbeg Distillery on Islay’s beautiful rugged south coast. Islay, known as the Whisky Isle, is home to 8 working distilleries and a perfect destination for whisky enthusiasts for a day trip or longer stay. Visit one or more distilleries here for a perfect introduction to the art of whisky distilling. If staying longer, from Islay it’s a short crossing to the quiet island of Jura to visit Jura Distillery.

Head to Islay later this month for the Malt and Music Festival on 23 to 31 May for great music, entertainment and of course whisky!

Enjoy a trip over to Arran and visit award winning Lochranza Distillery for a morning tour and tasting.

Travel to the Isle of Mull from Oban or Kilchoan and head across to the colourful town of Tobermory and a visit to Tobermory Distillery and Adelphi Distillery at Ardnamurchan.

Shortbreaks and island hopping

Take the ferry from Ardrossan to Campbeltown and visit Springbank distillery, the oldest independent family owned distillery in Scotland.
