Rare whiskies earn £124,000 at auction

A COLLECTION of rare whiskies has sold at auction for a total of more than £124,000.

A rare Silver Jubilee Macallan, along with examples of Bowmore, Highland Park and Ardbeg, were snapped up by whisky lovers and investors at the McTear’s auction in Glasgow earlier this week.

McTear’s whisky expert Stephen McGinty said: “Our monthly rare and collectable sales have already established a market-leading reputation, however, the sale this week resulted in a record total for a McTear’s whisky auction.

“We had many fine examples of the amber nectar. However, the star of the show was undoubtedly the Macallan 25-year-old Silver Jubilee magnum which sold for £3,600.”
