Martha, who attends Lochgilphead Primary, initially set herself a target of £7,000 to contribute towards the building of a kitchen for a school in Malawi through charity Mary’s Meals.

But donations shot up after Argyll and Bute council reversed its decision to ban her blog, prompting donations to rocket past the £50,000 mark in less than 24 hours.

Martha will travel to Malawi next month to witness the fruits of her fundraising.
