Fuller’s are considering a limited edition of London Pride in honour of Professor Peter Higgs, winner of this year’s Nobel Prize for physics.

Prof Higgs was presented with a bottle of London Pride this morning, after it emerged he turned down a glass of wine to celebrate that a particle he first predicted nearly 50 years ago actually existed. Prof Higgs was speaking at the University of Edinburgh when he was given the brew, by fellow physicist Prof Alan Walker.

Prof Walker explained: “When we came back from CERN last year Peter refused to have some Prosecco on the plane and he had a can of London Pride instead.”

A spokesperson for Fuller’s said: “We are delighted to hear that, as should be the case with all of life’s great celebrations, Prof Higgs marked this fantastic accomplishment with London Pride.

“Now that we are aware of Prof Higgs’ favourite beer, perhaps we should consider a limited edition in his honour?”
