Largest bottle of whisky fails to sell at auction
The 14 litre bottle of Tomintoul was slated to reach between £100,000 and £150,000 pounds when it was auctioned at McTear’s earlier this week.
But valuers were left stunned when it did not meet its reserved and remained unsold.

Hide AdSteven McGinty, a whisky valuer who works for McTear’s, told The Herald: “It was unique but I’m not going to say I was disappointed because it will earn what the owners wanted under different circumstances. Today just wasn’t the day when somebody felt inclined to bid for it.”
