Ewan McGregor appeals for '˜love' for injured Charley Boorman

TRAINSPOTTING actor Ewan McGregor has appealed to his fans to send love after his friend and TV companion Charley Boorman was injured in a motorcycle accident.

Boorman, who appeared with McGregor in two hit TV travel documentaries, was injured after he collided with a car while attending the global launch of a new motorcycle in Portugal yesterday.

The 49-year-old TV presenter and travel writer later took to Twitter to reveal he had been left with screws in his ankle after breaking his leg.

McGregor has been firm friends with Boorman since the pair met on the set of The Serpent’s Kiss in 1997 and went on to star in two motorcycle documentaries, the Long Way Round in 2004 and Long way Down in 2007.

McGregor tweeted to his 896,000 fans yesterday: “My mate @charleyboorman had a nasty crash today in Portugal. He’s ok but in hospital. Send him your love guys.”

His dedicated fan base were happy to help, with more than one thousand messages of love flooding in.

One Twitter follower, Richard Bramfitt, wrote “Get well soon. I’ve always enjoyed seeing you on TV.”

Christine Rogers added: “Oh no Charley, glad you’re okay, get well soon, sending love to you and your family.”

Boorman has previously said he hopes to join up with McGregor for a third instalment of the ‘Long Way’ series, which would start in South America and end up in Alaska.

Yesterday he told his followers he was feeling terrible before his surgery.
