Electric Glen festival lights up Giffnock park

THE Electric Glen festival has transformed Rouken Glen Park with an artistic light, music and fire display.

This year’s specatular takes visitors on a journey to the tropics, recreating the colours of the fabrics dyed in the park’s burn over 200 years ago.

The festival is a celebration of the history and ecology of the Rouken Glen park which dates back hundreds of millions of years, to when Scotland was near the equator.

Phil Supple, designer of the lighting for the Tower of London installation, Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red, is creative director behind the festival.

Other contributors include Novak, who created live 3D visuals for Calvin Harris and Disclosure, West of Scotland illustrator and printmaker Hazel Dunn.

Up to 24,000 visitors are expected through the gates of the park throughout the festival which runs from until February 14.

Festival-goers can see the lit boating pond, glen and illuminated landscape that tells the human and natural history of the park.
